Tips for Mac OS partitions
- The order of the partitions matter for resizing.
- In Disk Utility View the first partition is on the top and goes downward.
- When reformatting you must go in order from bottom up.
- You may have to use time machine to move the boot partition to the first partition.
- The main boot partition should always be the first one.
- You may have to turn off file vault and wait for the hard drive to decrypt before you can resize.
- Some of the new Macs are coming with encryption enabled as default.
